Forestry have been clearing forest and burning off around Paradise. Been quite smokey here for a few days. Doing their bit for global warming.

Had Sharon and her mum Anne stay for 5 days. They helped make chicken wire cages for the trees and we planted two boxes of bulbs around the front gate. I also put two liquidambar trees along the road just before our gate.

Tree Munching

Something has biten the top off a few of our trees. We’ve been told it’s probably hares. I’m going to make chicken wire cages for them. Already got 12 done and will try to get the rest done before the weekend. Only need 50 thus far because they’re not eating the liquidambars…yet.

Wychwood

Went to the Wychwood Apple Tasting day at Mole Creek today. Very busy display. Had a good look around the garden for more ideas and techniques for espalier. They had some lovely garden tools there too - http://www.digadoo.com.au/
Bought an Acer Clissifolium - a rare maple, slow growing, probably put it in the top right corner.
